Doing Democracy, April 3rd 6:30-8:30

The McCall Public Library is noting a year of Doing Democracy with a community meeting to generate the next years topics for discussion.  Last April, community members met and selected 6 topics which were discussed over the last 12 months at the library.  Open discussions were held on:  Our Trash: our Problem;  Affordable Housing;  What Do We do with All these old people? How can we design our community so a person’s income is not a barrier to opportunity or well-being?  How does city government work? and What can we do about climate change?

Citizens are invited to come and help choose the topics to be addressed for the coming year.  Doing Democracy is an attempt to practice the vital democratic skills of careful listening, clarity in presenting our own thinking, brainstorming and developing the capacity to see another point of view.  Through those efforts, we hope to find new understanding and inspiration.
